Jun Hyun (Joseph) Ryoo

I am an Assistant Professor of Marketing at W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. I received my Ph.D. in 2021, and B.A. in 2016, both from Ivey Business School, The University of Western Ontario.

The rapid growth of unstructured data (e.g., texts, images, videos), generated by both consumers and organizations has created exciting opportunities to uncover and study patterns of behavior that traditional data cannot reveal. I employ econometric and machine learning methods to address challenges involving diverse data sources that are vital to marketing and managerial decision-making.

My research has appeared in Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, and Journal of Retailing, and was finalist for the Donald R. Lehmann Award in 2023, and winner of the Research in Practice Award in 2024.

I currently serve on the editorial review board of Journal of Marketing and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Prior to joining Arizona State, I served as a faculty member at City University of Hong Kong from 2021 to 2023.
